Nothing is wasted. Everything is reimagined.
Every day, valuable textiles are discarded across Kenya — curtains taken down during a move, fabric offcuts from tailoring shops, linens no longer wanted. Most of it ends up in a landfill.
At RECIR Atelier, we rescue these unwanted household fabrics, transforming them into limited-edition clothing, while every remaining scrap is repurposed into statement furniture. Nothing is wasted. Every piece is reimagined — keeping textiles out of landfills and proving that circular design can be both beautiful and impactful.
Our process
From rescue to reconstruction, four honest steps.
Rescue
We source discarded curtains, linens, and offcuts from households, tailors, and estates across Kenya — fabrics otherwise headed for landfill.
Deconstruct
Every textile is unpicked by hand, sorted by weight, weave, and colour, and assessed for what it wants to become next.
Redesign
Heavier fabrics are pattern-cut for upholstery; lighter ones for garments. Nothing left over is discarded twice.
Reconstruct
Each piece is hand-finished in the studio and released as a single edition — never restocked, never repeated.
